Four Hills for Lindsay

56km long run

Your Feedback—2007

What can I say; just the most awesome experience, today's run.  Everyone I heard after the run had praise for the organisation, registration, seconding crews, finish (the best butternut soup in SA!) and the vibe of the whole event.  Please pass on my thanks to Kathy and her crew for a wonderful team effort.  I am also grateful for the huge amount of love and affection I felt today on the road.  Today was by far the toughest running day in the last 8 months, but I felt so proud to be out there running for Lindsay on her favourite run, with all our friends supporting me and thinking of Lindsay and all the times she did this run and brightened up our lives with her smile.  She would be very very proudly Fish Hoek today.

Thank you all

Ian

P.S. Please do your best to keep this a Four Hills (training) run for Lindsay and not a race.  This special day deserves to keep its character and its special feeling.

What a stunning run!  Thanks for all the trouble.  It was well worth it - we so enjoyed today.  Unfortunately I forgot to collect my long sleeve shirt at the clubhouse at the end.  It is a New Balance - bright pink/reddish.  It has a high collar and slits in the arms to put the thumbs through.  Please could you let me know it you have it.  Then I will arrange with you to collect it.  Thanks.

And well done on great organisation!

I just want to thank you and everyone from Fishhoek Athletic Club who was involved in organising the 4 Hills for Lindsay Long run today.  It was GREAT and I really enjoyed it. The refreshments stands were excellent as well as the refreshments provided for us.  Congratulations once again.  It was very nice to be part of this very special event.  You will definitely see me again next year.

Thanks for a great run and superb organisation.  Both myself and my wife enjoyed it thoroughly, even though it was Mother's Day!  Just a comment on the distance.  My Garmin GPS measured 54.4km for the entire route.  Don't know if anyone else commented that the route it was less than the stated 56km.

Thanks again, Regards

Nigel Bennett

To you and your club...a VERY BIG THANK YOU for such a well

organised and enjoyable training run yesterday.  As always, you guys

were absolute stars.

Kind regards

Just a note to thank you for yesterday.  The run was brilliantly organized  - as always - and I heard nothing but appreciative comments.  It was a very beautiful morning - lucky we didn't have todays weather yesterday!

Four Hills for Lindsay is now a major event for the Western Cape's ultra fraternity

Being the wonderfully modest person she was, Lindsay would probably have been amazed at the idea of a run in her honour, complete with T shirts and people ringing a bell.  But she would have been delighted

Very well done, and thankyou again to you and all your helpers

Best wishes

Joe Tyrrell

Thanks so much for all you efforts and those of FHAC in once again putting on such a superb Comrades training run.  The drinks and snacks and the great spirit made the 'journey' all the more pleasurable.  The hot shower and soup at the finish was a cherry on top.  Once again, many thanks.

All the best.

I just want to express my gratitude at you guys and the whole of FHAC in putting together yesterday's training run.  Thanks so much that we could be part of your long run.  It was very well organized - even better than many races if you don't mind me saying so ;-)  And the water tables were excellent!  I was very impressed by every aspect of the run, and many of my club mates shared my sentiments.  Will you please give my thanks to all involved?  Looking forward in joining again next year!  May you have a stunning day!

Wow - what can I say.  There are no words to express just how brilliant yesterday was - on all fronts.  It was better organized than many races I have done.  A huge thank you to you and your team for a job incredibly well done.  The seconders were fantastic and always had a huge smile on their faces and would do anything they could to help and encourage.  The tables were brilliant and so well stocked and the day was totally enjoyable.

Thank you so much for opening up this run to all clubs - we really appreciate it.  The soup and coffee etc at the end was very much appreciated as well.  I had a wonderful time out there and my knee behaved - so I feel great and motivated again.  The tops are stunning - a real tribute to someone who was obviously very special to you all.  I am sure Lindsay would have been very proud of FHAC yesterday.  Thanks again,

Nicky Horenz

Thank you for an absolute awesome run yesterday, in all my years of racing and running I can truly say that it was the best organized event.  Thank you to your team and all at fishhook running club.

Thank you to you for organising such a professional and enjoyable event yesterday.  Also, to all those who manned the water tables, they were a great inspiration to me as I had a really bad day yesterday and without them I would not have completed the 56k. . . but thanks to your members who took time out to help us all and my fellow runner Debra I made it.

This is my second long run with you and your team and am so grateful for all your help and understanding, it is of the highest standard.  Thank you once again and good luck to all Fish Hoek Comrades participants.

Kind regards

Julia

I just want to congratulate and thank you for a wonderful race on Sunday, even the weather was wonderful.  Thanx for all the time and effort that went into this race.  The water tables were great and it was only a pleasure to participate.  I think Lindsay will be very proud of all your guys putting up wonderful memorial race.

Thanx again.

Leonie Steyn (Durbac)

I just want to say a BIG thank you to FHAC, all the volunteers (specially the moms who gave up their previous day) as well as yourself for another wonderful event.  This is the second time that I have run this and the organisation is absolutely amazing and the volunteers are a special bunch of people.  Naming this in honour of Lindsay is also a very special touch and I must admit to feeling quite emotional when I rang the bell at the end.  Please would you convey our thanks to all concerned.

Kind regards

We are so fortunate to be part of the FHAC.  For the people who ran (or bits of it) or did supporting and for the children who did water tables, supported or just played, what a fun day we had.  Just wanted to say WELL DONE AND THANK YOU!

Cheyne was so exhausted last night that he fell asleep over his supper and then slept for 13 hours straight.  It's hard being a kid at our club! Thanks again Nikki and your team for all your hard work.  Put your feet up and relax today, or better still take a mental health day.  tc

Thank you for a very well-organised and well catered run.  Every year just gets better and better.  Not only is there an over-abundance of supplies, but happy and friendly volunteers that make the day that much more special.  You guys are all great.  Well done.  From myself and on behalf of all my fellow club mates at Durbanville Athletics Club, Well Done!

Thanks for an awesome day yesterday, even though I only managed 8k's on my injured hamstring before Greg's wife appealed to my better judgment with " 2 weeks off is better than 2 months " I could see all was really well organized and enjoyed riding the course stopping at the Water Tables and watching the guys come through.  Thanks also for the T-Shirt what a bargain at the Price we got it for.  Good Luck this year for that Green Number I'm sure you'll do Great ...

All AAC'rs who took part in yesterday's "4 Hills for Lindsay" Comrades training run, would like to say a big thank you to you and FHAC for putting on such a well organised event.  We were bowled over by the support - the well stocked refreshment tables, with all sorts of goodies (including mussels on crackers!) and the friendly enthusiasm on the part of those involved. Then to top this off with delicious soup was brilliant.  What a great run and wonderful tribute to Lindsay.  Well done and many thanks.

This is just a huge big, massive thank you for all the organisation, effort and thought you put into Sunday’s 4 Hills for Lindsay Run.  I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, and it was literally just that, an experience.  The whole entry process was superbly well organised, with an excellent website and directions on what to do.  The organisation yesterday morning was also very efficient and friendly.  But, best of all, was the water tables.  Fantastic people with friendly smiles and words of encouragement.  Please pass on my thank you for giving up a whole Sunday to man a table for so many people, most of whom were not Fishhoek club members.

I am a Comrades Novice this year, and if the spirit of Comrades comes anywhere close to the spirit of the day yesterday, it will only be a magnificent occasion for me.

I thank you most sincerely for throwing this training run open to anybody, from any club and I hope that this tradition will continue in the future.  Good luck with your own Comrades this year.

Kind Regards

JENNY BRADSHAW

To you Niki for perfect organizing.  Not forgetting Kim, Kathy and her team of willing helpers who gave up their day to support us.  We were spoilt with the seconding.  From the runners themselves I heard nothing but praise for Fish Hoek.

Thanks so much - Janet

********************************************

Thank you to Kathy ,Crunchy and all the people at the water tables who were so kind and generous on yesterday's run. Also  the FHAC children, who were so supportive.  A message to my fellow FHAC runners,"Thank you for your encouragement that is so much appreciated."  Having been a helper at the tables in previous years, Lindsay was in my thoughts at the 9km, where she helped look after Stacey my Border Collie.  The split at Redhill where she teased Brian Bothma because he wouldn't do the extra loop and again at the 42km where Don and I were.  Of course at the end again at the club being her natural friendly self.  Best wishes to all the Comrades runners,

Olwyn.

I write on behalf of 5 Bishops teachers (representing three different clubs) who took part in your training run yesterday; I write to thank you so much for all your time and trouble on the day, and for affording us this opportunity of getting in a last major training run ahead of the Comrades Marathon in five weeks' time.  Your run was superbly organized, and the watering points provided all that a runner could possibly hope for.  Indeed, we may have been "spoilt" before Comrades, given the almost individual attention that we received and the option of nibbling on this and that along the way.

More important than any of the choccies or fruit or drinks on offer, it was amazing to receive the good wishes and "human-touch" interest of those on duty at the different tables.  It was so good to have a chat along the way, and helped to make the entire affair decidedly pleasant, despite the tired legs.

Well done, too, on organizing superb weather for the day - just cool enough with the right amount of sun! I don't know how you guys did it!?  I have no doubt that all who took part are now nicely "tee-d up" for the "Big C"!  Many thanks once again! See you next year! Regards,

I now know what I missed last year.  I decided during my first full oceans last year to run Comrades.  But alas at 47km, got an ITB injury which put me out of any further training for my first Comrades.  Sadly I had to miss your 4 Hills run.

Still enjoyed Comrades very much and going to attempt the downhill run this year.  I was so excited at the thought of being apart of the privileged few (relatively speaking) and attempting your 4 Hills for Lindsay on Sunday.  Have heard so much about it - but was blown away totally at the incredible organisation, smooth running of every part of the race and the fabulous array of delicious and most rewarding eats and drinks available at each and every water station, manned by awesome people.  You guys are all amazing.  If I had dreamed of a perfect refreshment station it wouldn’t have been stocked half as well as yours!

To each and every one of the organising committee and leaders thereof, a huge congratulation and a sincere thank you for all your time and effort putting together, a one in a million, club run and most memorable experience.

Now I know why I run!!!  Cheers

Di Glenday, Foresters

Thank you for a wonderful run, it was a special day in some many ways.

I would like to congratulate Fish Hoek Athletic Club for once again organising a brilliant training run for all 2007 Comrades runners who took part.  The water tables were exceptional in what every one offered, people who manned them very friendly and supportive and the showers and soup at the end was the cherry on the cake.

I would encourage all prospective 2008 Comrades runners to use this run as there last long training run, you willl enjoy it as much as myself and others have done not only this year but previous years.  - MrCOMRADES

*************************************

I would like to thank all the runners who took part in Sunday's training run.  Almost without exception you were happy to see us and that in turn made us happy to be there to help you.  To all the guys who could still smile and crack a joke at the 54km table - well done!!  To my knowledge only one complaint of littering was received, the lady's number was noted and the necessary action will be taken.  Good luck for Comrades all you brave souls!!! - BATCHICK

**************************************

Once again I loved this run!!!!!

I decided on a different strategy this year that I know some night have issues with.... I decided to run it fairly hard... I wanted to be tired by the time I got to the final big downhill.... so that I would know what it'll be like to run down Fields Hill on massively tired legs... my plan worked, and it was HARD!!!! But now I know what to expect.

Thanks FHAC for another GREAT run!  - GREG_M

Thank you, Thank you, Its was such a pleasure to run....

This run will and is the key to Comrades success 2007...
